The Season of Summer - 7 Hair Care Tips for Glorious hair days!

Summers - the Season of sun kissed skin, adventures, and glorious hair days

As the summer sun rises, it’s time that we look into a new routine to protect our mane!

In order to protect your scalp and hair from sun and heat damage we’ve gathered 7 enchanting hair care tips for you. So let’s embrace the magic of summer and unravel the secrets to beautiful hair that will turn heads wherever you go.

WEAR A SCARF OR CAP TO PROTECT YOUR SCALP WHEN OUTDOORS

Repeated exposure to the sun is very drying for your hair, which can lead to visible signs of bleaching. Bleaching damages your mane making it become brittle. Applying a good SPF to your face and body is a good habit when you’re going out. Certain areas such as ears, back of the neck, and the hair line should also be focused on.

A scarf or hat will protect your hair colour from fading away and will also save your scalp from a sunburn. A sunburnt scalp will leave you feeling itchy and oily. Your scalp sadly with start to flak dead burnt skin, especially if you have thin hair.

GET REGULAR HAIR TRIMS

If your hair is already dried up with split ends, then a regular monthly trim is the answer. Book your Hair Trim at CMA Color Me Awesome.

SHEILD YOUR HAIR FROM CHLORINE & SALT WATER POOLS

Prolonged exposure to chlorine and salt water can strip out the moisture from your hair and make it become dry and faded. Especially if your hair is chemically treated, making the fibers become porous. Your color will fade to a shade of green.

Chlorine & Salt in swimming pools strip away your hairs natural oil.

Below are a few steps to help prevent your hair from becoming damaged:

* Wet your hair before you swim, this will make your hair strands less likely to absorb the chlorine or salt.

* Rinse again your hair right after your swim. We understand that wearing a cap isn’t the most glamorous option while swimming, but it will help protect your hair from the damaging chlorine and salt water.

DON’T OVERWASH

Freshly shampooed hair looks nice and presentable, but don’t overdo it as it will dry up your scalp and strip out your hairs natural oil.

However, if you’re a regular swimmer, you may use sulphate free shampoos or just simply rinse your hair and deep condition it so that the chlorine or salt water doesn’t dry out the strands.

DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR TO AVOID FRIZZ

Weather you enjoy swimming in a pool or diving in ocean, direct exposure to chlorine and salt water can make your hair become dehydrated and brittle. To protect your hair from such harsh elements you may need to take a few precautionary measures such as using a leave-in conditioner in your hair or adding oil prior to swimming as this will create a protective barrier. Without doing this, your hair will soak up excess chlorine and salt. Taking care of your hair will prevent it from becoming dried out and it won’t frizz either.

You may add professional deep conditioning treatments from a salon once a month for better results. We have this option available at CMA Color Me Awesome.

PRIORITISE HYDRATION

Drinking a good amount of water keeps your hair hydrated and can prevent your scalp from having potential issues such as itchiness, dandruff, and or dryness.

When you drink enough water, your hair and scalp remain hydrated and healthy, helping you avoid a potential brittle hair loss.
